International Association for Suicide Prevention (IASP)

is dedicated to:

-preventing suicidal behaviour,
-alleviating its effects, and
-providing a forum for academians, mental health professionals, crisis workers, volunteers and suicide survivors.

Founded by the late Professor Erwin Ringel in Austria in 1960, IASP now includes professionals and volunteers from more than fifty different countries. IASP is a Non-Governmental Organization in official relationship with the World Health Organization (WHO) concerned with suicide prevention.

IASP provides a forum for national and local suicide prevention organizations, researchers, volunteers, clinicians and professionals to share knowledge, provide support and collaborate in suicide prevention around the world.

I welcome you to join our network by becoming a member of IASP, attending our International and Regional Congresses, participating in IASP Task forces on cutting-edge challenges in suicide prevention, reading and contributing to our official journal, Crisis, and conducting local and national activities on September 10, World Suicide Prevention Day. Suicide can be prevented and your involvement can make a difference.
